1 Kings 19:1-7 (NIV)<\/em><\/p>\n

19 Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, \u201cMay the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

3 Elijah was afraid[a] and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, 4 while he himself went a day\u2019s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. \u201cI have had enough, Lord,\u201d he said. \u201cTake my life; I am no better than my ancestors.\u201d 5 Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.<\/em><\/p>\n

All at once an angel touched him and said, \u201cGet up and eat.\u201d 6 He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.<\/em><\/p>\n

7 The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, \u201cGet up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.\u201d 8 So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. 9 There he went into a cave and spent the night.<\/em><\/p>\n

Life is tough. \u00a0Life itself can suck the life out of you and make you want to give up. \u00a0As a Believer, you may feel that you just aren’t strong enough to continue. You are not alone in feeling this way. Many people do.<\/p>\n

When you are in the pit mentally, physically, and\/or emotionally as Elijah was do as he did. First, make your petition to God. \u00a0Not facebook and not Dear Abby. Elijah prayed honestly. \u00a0So should you. \u00a0God hears you and He will send His angel(s) to minister to you as He did with Elijah. \u00a0It may be directly or it may be through people that are led into your life.<\/p>\n

Secondly, change your diet. \u00a0Not your physical diet but your spiritual and emotional one. \u00a0Your life diet. \u00a0Consuming the world’s “keys” to life is junk food. The Dr. Phils, the <fill in the blank> self help book, or the hip new motivational speaker are the foods you should never eat. \u00a0They provide instant gratification, no real nutritional value, and leave you hungry an hour later. \u00a0God fed Elijah bread and water and he lasted 40 days and he was able to climb a mountain! Begin to consume God’s instruction on life. Commit to His diet and you will receive the strength necessary to live this life.<\/p>\n
